Background

Back in 1983, David Maynard created what some people consider a classic game, Worms! The concept of Worms! was deceivingly simple, each player controlled a worm and scored points by completing a node.

But what was really interesting about the game was the way in which players controlled their worms. The players did not simply move the worms, instead they trained the worms by starting the worm off on a pattern. The worms would then repeat the pattern for as long as they could.

The game was simple enough to be played by players of all ages, and teaches youngsters how to recognize and develop patterns for completing nodes and scoring points.

Playing the Game

The object of the game is to score the most points by having your worm complete the most nodes. A complete node is one in which all six directions have been used. In addition, bonuses are awarded for completeing three adject nodes.

The trick to the game is training your worm. You train your worm by moving it from node to node. As you move your worm from node to node, it recognizes patterns in your movement, and will eventually begin to move by itself. Your worm will stop when it can no longer continue it's pattern. At this point, the player must train his worm again.

The game board has a property of continuity. Meaning that once your worm travels to the last node on the right, it will continue to the first node on the left. The same goes for the top and bottom.

The game can be played with up to six players. There are three computer intelligence levels (Easy AI, Medium AI, and Hard AI). The Random AI option randomly selects one of the AIs.
